About

I work in IT as part of the United States Antarctic Program at McMurdo Station in Antarctica.

Since I am away from home for typically 8 months at a time, but sometimes as long as a year, that means I miss a lot of time with my nieces and nephews back home. So this is a way for me to keep them up to date with what I have going on while I’m away from home.  If you aren’t one of my nieces or nephews then you’re more than welcome to enjoy the content as well.

I’ve been coming down here off and on since 2011 working as a seasonal contractor.  The contracts I’ve worked have ranged in time from 4 months to 12 months for a total of 10 completed seasons and 73 months of “on ice” time.  As of Sept 2024 I am currently working on my 3rd summer season, and the plans are to stay for my 9th winter as well after that.  When I get home in Oct 2025 I will have accumulated 86 months of ice time. Wow, that’s a lot of time now that I think of it!
